Her Name is 'Byondka Beliefowitz'!

"If this woman did not exist, by god, I swear we would have to invent her!
Her name is Byondka Beliefowitz, don't ask me where she got that name. She is the archetypal prototypical customer we have been dreaming of in our marketing campaign for Bhagavad America's No Spending campaign, I mean, she is gold for us because there has never been a more devoted consumer.

American Pie

Well I went down to the Sacred Store
Where I heard the music play before
But the man said the Music Wouldn’t Play…
---Don McLean “American Pie” (1970)
From the Good Old Boys Tavern on the 18th floor of the Executive Tower at Bhagavad Central, Beemer, R. Juna’s uncle, studies Juna gesticulating and waving his hands in the air in the parking lot to apparently no one at all.

“Look at that poor bastard Juna out there hallucinating in the mid-day sun. Who does he think he’s talking to anyway? I bet he thinks he’s in communication with the divinities. He and that little fairy monkey are going to get us into trouble Dickie, I swear, he has been loyal to the firm for so long that people associate him with Bhagavad America and I don’t like the direction he wants to go. And besides, I am the rightful heir, and nobody ever thinks about me.”

“Dad, I’ve got an idea. Let’s get him some help. We've all known friends and family who have suffered with having to deal with someone who had a mental illness. He needs help, he just does'nt know it. Religious delusions, grandiosity, he doesn't really mean to block your next corporate move. We’ll put him in therapy with Dr. Julie and that way we can get transcripts of the sessions and find out more about his delusions and visions.”

“That’s my boy! Brilliant idea Dickie…”

“Oh, and pops, I don’t think it’s going to be too tough getting him onto the couch either. He is at all an all-time frustration high. The other day I heard him muttering about wanting to give up the battle and going into retirement.”

Beemer seemed a tad bit uneasy but Dickie continued vehemently: "Crimpett and Crinkle managed to intercept some of Juna's e-mails and Dad, look at what they "discovered!" He made a single click on the laptop:

Krishna! As I come here to shed their common blood, my members fail, my tongue dries in my mouth, a shudder thrills my body and my hair bristles with horror....nothing do I see save wail and woe. Naught of good can spring from mutual slaughter! I hate triumph and domination, wealth and ease thus sadly won. (The Song Celestial, Sir Edward Arnold)

That's right, these two "brainiac" cousins at work in the bowels of Rival Corp., had managed to "strain" the data stream and pull out this little gem of a communication! Now Beemer's spirit turns and he feels invincible, now that it is clear that Arjuna has no will to fight this marketing battle.

Dickie is a sharp thinker, he advises Beemer to get R. Juna into therapy. You still love him, after all, he's your cousin! To boot, this is tres P.C., oh, and in case you are wondering whether there is anything in it for Beemer, well think again. Dickie had gotten into the habit of snooping through the corporate psychologist's notes taken in therapy sessions. There you have it---access to a blow by blow account of the obviously unstable ally of Krishna.

Beemer and Sons, frankly speaking are the fighting against R. Juna and Krishna, in fact against Bhagavad America in the maneuver to set up sacred superstores and to dominate the spiritual marketplace. While it is also true that Beemer and Sons were not serving Krishna anymore since they came to the States, they still belonged to the family, so Bhagavad handed down the directive to their middle management in the '60s that they would run it kind of 'good cop/bad cop' inside Bhagavad Corporate. We have all seen and well remember Cato, Inspector Clouseau's houseboy/sparring partner, well that is pretty much what the Good Ole Boys wanted. Spy vs. spy, inhouse fighting...you get what I am saying?

It's true---Rival Corp and Beemer and Sons are all working for us in Celestial Sky (tm) headquarters. It is two ways of going about one thing. The difference that makes no difference. Opposing forces are necessary and self-supporting. Beemer though not loyal to Krishna, yet helps Bhagavad to discern its central corporate values and best practices. Some of these guys are true believers (Like R. Juna)---others, the managers, Crinkleberry, Boss Hogwad don't have enough faith to butter their toast, their compassion coefficient is in the red numbers, and they are only out for themselves!

But hey, isn't that the very best description of the ideal consumer? You betya. So you play them off of one another...that is the ultimate product (tm), that is better than love, that is the marketing battle, it's the same battle raging in each of us. Man has not escaped nature and God, no matter how hard he tries to do so, and this is a good thing because man's salvation lies in nature. Culture is just the byproduct of natural evolution, of course in the case of the human being the road was marked with a few little quirks...Nothing much: Hiroshima, Iraq, the Inquisition, and let's be honest, Bhagavad America! Now back to the action and Julie K.

Ever since the late ‘90s when the workplace began to replace family and the neighborhood as the center of American life, larger companies had taken up the practice of hiring in-house therapists to counsel with their struggling employees. Well it helped to ingrain the corporate value system and get a "peek" inside their minds!

Julie K. Had trained in San Fransisco as a Jungian therapist. They were the only school of psychotherapy willing to take this Bhagavad stuff seriously. If you look at it in the sober daylight it does appear to be a mass delusion. Most professional psychologists saw Bhagavad America as a grand delusion and a cult. Granted, it is a fine edge---but Dr. Julie was at least willing to work for the firm and at a fine income I might add. A headstrong therapist with good instincts, she appeared to R. Juna as his final hope before imminent defeat.

“Yes, this is an interesting dream. Quite! And not far from the mark Mr. Juna.” Juna leans back on the floral couch and sips a golden cup of Darjeeling tea and begins to speak very slowly: “Doctor, I don’t see much point in going on like this anymore. They’re perpetrating something very dangerous. They’ve allowed Beemer and his boys to get into the crucial marketing roles up in Corporate and they want to redefine the way we market spiritual goods. It’s like a rockslide and I’m chewing the m up as fast as I can, but they are sending down even bigger boulders and I feel as though I am about to snap.”

Dr. Julie breathes deeply and asks: “Who are these people who are throwing stones at you Mr. Juna?”

“It’s upper management. Everyone admits that I am the most loyal employee. But now they are asking me to go along with Beemer’s strategy. Uncle Beemer and cousin Dickie and the whole gang of relatives have a totally different idea how to run the superstore and they are undermining my delegated authority, leaving me no room at all, leaving me nothing to do but fight. But what good can come from fighting? I mean it will demoralize the superstore.”

Dr. Julie drops her pen on the desk, smiles a knowing smile and whispers, “Lighten up! Relax. This is all very good. Fighting can only help… Tell me, are you absolutely certain of Beemer’s next move?

“I’m not proud of it and it is usually not my style but some information fell into my hands that wasn’t supposed to get there. A corporate spy informed me of the corporate party line with regard to Beemer…” Dejected, R. Juna’s voice trailed off into silence.

“Listen Ray, our time is up. Do not fear. You are doing exceedingly well. I have it on Higher Authority ™ that everything will work out. Strife after all is the basis of the free market. Therefore, fight! Improve the Bhagavad America brand name and market position! You are fighting for their minds. Your mother, Kunti, would be proud of you. Tell your brothers, the Pandistas, that they are a godsend to Bhagavad America and your fair play is acknowledged by all. And tell me what you are doing later. Why don't you meet me at the Whiskey and Rye Tavern at 6 tonight?” ”

R. Juna stood up somehow heartened, “All except Beemer.”

“Fear not, you will succeed.”
Thus ends R. Juna’s consultation with Dr. Julie K.

The Baghabucks Chuck Report
The Good Ole Boys (GOB) is an echo of Don McLean’s American Pie “Good ole boys drinking whiskey and rye…” Beemer and Sons refers to all of the affiliates of Beemer including, GOB, Rival Corps., and any characters whose names begin with the letter ‘b’: Boss Hogawad (a play on Bhagavad), Boss Jr. (Hogkin), and the cousins: Billyblab, Bobbyblue, Billybob, Bobbybill, Ballyblue, Bluelyblall, Blallblall, Bl’all Y’all. On the other hand there are the K’s K ™: Mr.K, Harry Krishna, CEO. Lillith K., Julie K., Kathy, The Lady that Sings The Blues (Don McLean). All of the K’s are manifestations of Krishna.
'K' as in Julie K. basically means that shes one of Chairman Krishna’s consorts. When she refers to Higher Authority ™ that is a transcendental code word which refers to the sublime memos through which Harry conveys the inner game into this corporately conditioned world. She needs to convey more information to R. Juna at the whiskey and Rye Taverne.
One more note: it is customary with sacred texts to have an authoritative commentary, hence Bhagabucks Chucks Chuck E. Bucks purports. I mean who has more authority than the guy with all of the bucks? More on Mr. Chuck's credentials to follow.

Mister Chuckles!

The Elder Script
{sign up now for digicash perks and bonus annual dividend...}

My role is simply to share with you, the reader, clear interpretations of the text---you may think that I lean toward desire, you know, the universal purveyor of karma manifested---I want to assure you that I am in no way inclined toward action. No, I am unattached yet observing. Even if I were so inclined to act there would be no getting stuck in the lair, as, in any case, it is the intention which gives the act ethical "actuality ".

"These acts do not bind me, O Dhananjaya, sitting like one indifferent, unattached to those acts." Bhagavad-Gita Chapter 9, Stanza 9, translated by Swami Chinmayananda (nice guy) Sreemad Bhagavad Geeta, Published in Madras IV edition, 1977 (crucial date).

I once met Swami Chin back in Virginia, "Chin" he was affectionately known among his inner circle of devotees, he was energetic, rode straight up to me on his silver bike and jumped into a philosophical discussion. And he concluded, "The tree is too heavy with fruit cannot help but bow down before God. " This parallels Jesus' teaching:

"Come to me all ye who are heavy laden and I will give you rest."

I promised not to rattle you with details and look at what I have done!
Some people call me the 'narrator' of Bhagavad America, I like that, 'narrator'---sounds nice. I make comments and interpretations of the story---these are called 'purports'.
The gathering of the armies the stage has already been set in Bhagavad America's previous chapters. The medium, the novel on the blog takes the battle in the blow by blow virtual reenactment. From that instant unto this day, all points are compelled to shorten their radii, to draw nearer to one another, condensing, precipitating, agglomerating into the bodies and items we now recognize as the universe. Virtual friggin' Entertainment! Kurukshetra is there you know near the Wal-Mart super plaza out on 22, but it is also a field, as in a field in one's mind. The battle is fought externally, but the battle is being fought within our consciousness, since it is like a film or projector that runs in your brain and you are the screen and are not the screen. The 'perceived needs a perceiver.' Somebody's got to up there to witness the action. It's true, this is what the Buddha had understood...(more on this to follow).

And it is corporate, well let me explain it this way: the heyday of transcendental teaching, music and art was the late '60s and the '70s. Peace, love, pot---everybody a part of a bigger...bigger what? No one knows, I mean take a good look at the Woodstock video---I mean DVD, you've gotta get the latest version---Santana is on stage, young drummer, Michael Shrevie aged 19 is playing the drum solo in "Soul Sacrifice" and that girl with long dirty blond hair and glasses is very serious and all at once, her face lights up---transcendence---so enthralled with Santana's genius guitarwork. Caught up into...a bigger whatever... That's what we are looking for.
Santana
Now look at the same scene today: cell phones, digital artwork, the internet, homeland security...it is a totally different ballgame. Or is it?
The more things change, the more they stay the same. You see the seeds of the actual present age in America were sown in the '60s and '70s. What lasts? It is like a coin with two sides---heads and tales. Heads is spiritual and tails is material, we live currently in one of the most materialistic cultures ever conceived. Rome was tame...its not only about the obvious sins, but the shoppers in a bizarre ritual hoard yet one more piece of jewelry, or groceries at Wal-Mart. And in their minds nothing spiritual in any sense, maybe some religion but religion doesn't count, all peoples are religious, cultural anthropologists never tire of saying. In an unashamed consumeristic capitalistic culture like America possesses in 2007, materialism runs so rampant that there are in fact only a couple of American citizens in a position to actually "save the world": and no, we are not talking about Operation Infinite Freedom! These are people who are hidden. They are not 'organizational types' if you get my drift. These are the ones who possess some thread of their childhood dreams wth heart and soul intact which they have not sold out on to protect their job, get the kids an education, hire a nanny, triple Lattes, whatever. I told you 1977 was an important date to remember. That's when His Beloved Grace Swami Chitanandamayananda was escorted through the gates of Dulles airport by US interior agents and that's the last I ever saw him alive."
Lila, one of his Grace's devotees, e-mailed me that she had found the great teacher through guru.com. I for my part got burned so bad by the Ashram, even after I donated my house and things. I never wanted to see him again. I recall His Grace had told me to "Give it up [my house] for God". I figured, well he deserves it anyway, I was OK with that I mean 'detachment' is my forte. Anyway, I am under orders not to talk about any personal stuff. The game is about karma, and the field is consiousness, the goal is a tiny peek at the knowledge of ultimate reality. Bhagavad America is only the beginning.

CyberEducation
"Cybereducation, that's one of ours Beemer---I mean the intellectual copyright."
"It came from the heady acid days in the Summer of Love in Haight Ashbury at the original swami shop---Bhagavad America. Kids with long hair, who hadn't had a bath in days, would speculate interminably on these wild and crazy ideas: one kid said "look put 2 and 2 together and it is obvious that in the future something like a 'cybereducation' will be available." He even had charts, and minute scribbles and diagrams. So yeah, that's our domain as well and I want you in there---do you hear---no more fiddling around with Rival Corps---none of this has escaped my attention!" the speech of the old warrior, Beemer's uncle, jumped up and drifted away like Autumn smoke.

Rancho Populo

So far this aspect of the Bhagavad narrative has not been presented, and the answer why it was not is rather simple, there has to be some sort of battle that corresponds to Kurukshetra, and the scene at Corporate Headquarters with the Good Ole Boys just couldn't cut it. Nobody could really lose their shirt, I mean, so what the hell. That is the post-war attitude. There is conflict but it is virtual, not flesh and blood. So it stands to reason that there ought to be some alternative vision or counter-statement to all of this corporate religion ritual and sermon. Not that it would be easy to escape the gates of consumer capitalism--the leaders of these NGOs are still driving Hummers, so effective was their pre-school training. I mean indoctrination into capitalist ways and means.

All sorts of things went wrong after the Fall of the Towers. Something got radically shifted and there are just a field of kids out there with no direction or sense of anything. Rancho Populo cut across all sectors, Vinni's east european "money" experiment (what is money anyway?)was anything if not well-timed.

"What's good is bad, what's bad is good.
You'll find out when you reach the top.
You're on the bottom." That's Bob Dylan, back in 1974. The values got shuffled and reassigned just like Nietsche said. What can the battle for justice be if not a realignment of these values.

This brings us back to the activity at Rancho Populo. Where the general manager Maha Rogers is speaking to Pancho and Paolo. "There is no one thing---no action---that in itself is either good or bad, but our seeing makes it so, and this is the grand message of Mr. Krishna over at Gitacorp. Therefore leap in there head first boys, not only can you not lose your shirt but you cannot even lose your soul. All that matters is that you get out there and rally for the truth. Poor, rich, this cannot matter, still you must fight since it is your duty, and besides everybody's getting a little bit bored with the present day realpolitik and all these shimmering promises. Yeah, go for it as one of the big corporate mottoes goes...

After this accceptance or blessing of Mr. Krishna, all of sudden their faces lit up and the boys don their sacred duty and thus officially begins the era of revolution and realignment with this spark at Rancho Populo.

The Underground (CC Pifter's)

Boss Hogwad and his Goons are intercepting messages in the bunker that Beemer set up in order to keep his eyes on R. Juna and the transcripts of his sessions with Dr. Julie which were being intercepted thanks to two brainiac cousins, Crimpett and Crunchkin. Trust was something Big B lost after his fourth divorce.

“Alert: C.C.P.I.F.T.R. Crinkles capable of possible interpretation verification of transcendental revelation.”

“Damnit, one of them see see pifters.” Boss Hogwad shouts at his laptop screen: “Could one of you sonsabitches pleez x-plain what the hell a see see pifter is?”

“Well, Boss, that means that Manager Crinkleberry has stumbled his ass onto a way of figur’n what the hell has bin goin on around here with all of them foreign religious faggots openin’ up them sacred stores.”

The Boss stood up and said in a terrible voice: “Damnit, son, how many times I got to tell you nobodyz encroachin’ on Boss Hogwad’s tertory! Them’s ought to be our stores.”

Boss Jr. Chimed in: “Give me a chance pops, I’m gonna prove to you I’s a good son. Billyblab git yer ass in here right now.”

“Billyblab damnation! We gots to get on something. The old man’s face is as red as a turnip, man, he is gonna keel.”

“Can’t do nothing now, Bhagavad too strong now,” muttered Billyblab.

“I am gonna shred youse ass now you lissenup---you git those little brainiac cousins of yers I mean that duo Crimpett and Crunchkin. And you get them on this damn thing and crack open the files and get their every next move. You got that boy?” Sputtered Boss Jr.

“Yea, so what’s in it for me if we git in ther’ n’ everythin’?”

“I tell you this much if you don’t you’ll get your ass full of buckshot and if you do we got some mighty good beer, and some weed for you and all the cuzzes.”

“Why, Hogkin, if I’d a known that…Damn! No problemo.”

Manager Crinkleberry's Song

All of this started at as a honest wager between the manager and his nephew, Crockle. I mean he does have a certain musical sense, though like everything else in Crinkleberry's retinue, there was bound to be some sort of perverse dereliction. Cruising around one day, just takin' pop shots, Crockle blasted his favorite Chiblet music, which is not even worth talking about---I mean, unless you're into screwy rhythms, and backward tapes, demented poetry, so Crinkleberry was feeling frisky and looked so stupid smiling that Crockle called his bluff: "So what are you thinking about Huh?" "Oh, nothing but that music you got on sucks so bad, I could definitely write a better song than that."

Crockle contained his anger and stuttered: "OK let's hear it then big Fella!"

OK the rhythm starts out like budoom doom doobydoo:
And the old man began to sing:
A Bobby Bob Bob
and a Bibby bib bib
a racky tack toodle
and a rocky tock twackle.

"Whoa dude, immensely cool!" Crockle loved that song, it wasn't so much the song but the way the Manager sang,

Lunch at Rival Corps.

“Would you look at that! The Manager is reading again.”
“He just sits there all day long reading the fine print. Your Rights and Responsibilities As a Utility Consumer. Hell, that’s a thirty three hundred page document. I’m telling you, the consumers don’t have any rights unless we give it to them. I am fed up to here with these blarney-eyed liberals trying to justify the ways of the superstore to the people or to their wounded conscience. I am telling you we have got to eradicate them; one here, ten there, like nasty weeds until they are all gone.”

“I hear you Billyblab, but you know we can use this type of literature for our ultimate gain. I mean we cover our asses on all the legalese, and throw in a little brotherly love and the customers think we actually care for them. It’s working for our secular competition like LAWMart. Call the employees brothers and sisters, act like you care about them, in fact, make codes of ethics that force them to think they are a family! Do you catch my drift Bobbywhacker?”

“But that damn R. Juna over at Bhagavad America, man he really gets my goat… Speaking on corporate time about universal brotherhood and love, it is so counterproductive. And everyone sees his warm eyes on their boxes of breakfast cereal and it’s like they are teenagers falling in love. I want to puke! Did you hear about that incentive plan, they are putting little icons and holy pictures of saints as a series of trading cards into boxes of chocolate cereal; Ghandi, Mother Theresa, they’ve even got Jesus! The kids can’t even get past the breakfast table before they suck up all this religion, and Bhagavad America grows by leaps and bounds… What are we going to do?”
Bobbywhacker’s lament was cut off in midstream by the startled gaze on the gnarly grey face of Manager Crinkleberry who evidently overheard the dialogue while he pored over and glutted on the The Rights and Responsibilities literature.
“Would you two stop yer blabbin fer chrissakes. I am gonna spell it out to youse asses in clear ink. There are two---count them--- one, two roads you can go by. Bhagavad America has taken the Higher Path ™ and decided to market spirituality, but we both know that it’s all about bottom line. The content of the market is delusion, hell I don’t care if we can sell war and hate and lust, we’re gonna do it. Hate versus love. Whatever it takes to be number one. My ancestors didn’t come to this country in order to piddle around in religion, man that’s what they were escapin’. Look give them their fairy chariots and incense and icons in the breakfast box, we have got the corner on man’s lower nature and that is what’s going to win out time after time. Look, I’m a Freudian. Religion is simply a cover up for our forefathers crimes. Look, didn’t you boys learn ANYTHING IN SCHOOL?” After shouting these last words Manager Crinkleberry gulped a can or two of sodapop. His face melted into a total nuclear meltdown, like somebody spilled a Coke on the control board at Three Mile Island.

Billyblab and Bobbywhacker muttered their apologies: “Yessir, no sir, I mean we didn’t know what you meant when… I mean if we knew then what we… you are boss, I believe in everything you said or left unsaid, we believe in the beginning, the middle and end of any corporate literature that you have written.”

The Manager chokes and spittles: “Get them out of here!!!”

Thus ends another typical lunch meeting at Rival Corps.

Manager Crinkleberry summons his secretary: “Miss Crinklecrinkle. Type the transcrip’ of this meetin’ wouldya? I don’t know what the hell I was just blatherin’ about.” Coke foam rolled out of the corner of his cheeks and his eyes blared as red as a corvette racing down the alleyway.

In a nearby office, Miss Crinklecrinkle chuckled into the telephone headset: “The manager is going to lose his egg if he don’t mellow down some. Why don’t he remember it’s only a job!"

“No, that is what I mean, no one has ever seen Celestial Sky ™ headquarters, most deny it even exists. The only evidence we have comes in the form of intercepted memos, telephone transcripts, Julie K.’s therapy sessions---it’s like that tape of Watergate where Richard Nixon erased over it 18 times!!”

“What?” “Oh, some people think that Celestial Sky was invented by Beemer to discredit Juna, and others think it is real and actual. As far as I know, Manager Crinkleberry is working for Beemer. Rival Corps. Was set up for that purpose. Wait here comes old donut tooth… I ‘ve got to go! By the way, who is calling anyway?”

In another part of town, Crimpett and Crunchkin, two precocious high schoolers, are in ecstasy with Secretary Crinklecrinkle’s phone call… “But can’t anyone, Crimpett, substantiate that evidence? I mean even with the voices on magnetic tape in the Watergate tapes erasing does not eradicate the message entirely, it merely scrambles the energy into shaken bits.”

“So let’s say we take and re-align these energy bits, we can restore the original message.”

“Pretty much. Very astute Crimpett! Now that is what we’ve got to do. We are going to straighten out those messages! And Boss Jr. is going to have something good for us. Yeehoo!”

Non-spending (tm)

Eurobhag Themepark
Press Release
Ritter News Agency, Netherlands
Thursday Evening
Run this story:
Bhagcom International has announced its plans to open a themepark dedicated to Corporate Religion and the Cult of Shopping. The themepark----part Barnum and Bailey, and part psychedelic ’60 s Be-In has been constructed forty miles outside downtown Amsterdam. A great deal of speculation is brewing concerning the innovative firm’s,
Non-spending™ strategy. When asked for the meaning of non-spending ™, Bhagcom’s marketing director, R. Juna had this to say: “The Non-spending ™ philosophy is the answer to a question that Mohatma Ghandi once posed to our the venerable chairman of Universal Bhagavad, Harry Krishna: ‘Can the Bhagavad corporate vehicle be of any assistance in ushering in a new age of sharing?’ Eurobhag Themepark will be the first flowering of this beautiful ideal as it were in concrete, material terms. Non-spending™ is not such a new idea after all and has its roots in monastic life, and pure Marxism but in its present manifestation at the themepark, what we have in mind is something along the lines of universal sharing but within a rigorous capitalist campaign to promote Bhagavad America’s worldwide material/spiritual domination.” The themepark is set to open this Summer.

Perhaps, you find the explanation rather strange. You are not alone in thinking that it vague and even impossible! On of the leading ministers of finance, Brian Jones, explains it as follows:
Non-spending™ is part of the natural evolution of the market as it emerges into the new millennium. To be in business is no longer a matter of selling products as committing one’s belief to a certain brand. Having made this initial commitment to brand in some fundamental and absolute sense, the customer has no other choice but to enter into a shared value system, which is the Ultimate Product™, the refinement of the firm’s most cherished ethical commitment, streamlined into a spiritual product. The consumer is no longer a consumer of product, this is not what motivates the age-old buyer/seller alliance. A more accurate description of what is going on is that a consumer in declaring brand preference is actually professing his/her belief in a specific type of Corporate Religion. The response from the organization absolutely convinced of the confidence placed in its brand is to offer a policy of non-spending in order to better legitimate the people’s trust. When your brand is supreme as is Bhagavad’s then the strategy makes perfect sense. Non-spending™ is a means of total participation and sharing in the essence of the corporate paradigm. As we well know from their astonishing success in the states, the Spiritual Boutiques and Religious Supermarkets have ushered in Bhagavad America as the marketing miracle of the world.
